The McAlpine Creek Wastewater Management Facilities are located just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the largest of all Charlotte Water (formerly Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities, CMU) Wastewater Management Facilities with a daily treatment capacity of 64 million gallons per day (MGD). Over the last 10 years, CMU has spent more than $50 million to improve treatment processes and reduce the amount of phosphorus that is discharged into McAlpine Creek, resulting in better water quality.
