Modernisation of Opole Wastewater Treatment Plant

Project Type

Wastewater Treatment

Project Owner

WTE

Project Location

Opole, Poland

Project Details

Already in 2002 WTE modernised the wastewater treatment plant Opole/Poland within the consortium WTE-Energopol. From 2019, a further modernisation and conversion of the wastewater treatment plant will take place. This includes, among other things, the intake group, the expansion and modernisation of the laboratory, final clarification and sludge treatment. Particularly in the field of biogas utilisation from sewage sludge, WTE’s know-how is trusted. Thanks to these works, the Opole Sewage Treatment Plant will become more energy self-sufficient in the future.

The contract was signed in mid-April 2019 at a major press conference held between WTE Polska and Arkadiusz Wiśniewski, Mayor of Opole, and Ireneusz Jaki, President of PWiK. As part of the project “Comprehensive modernisation of the wastewater treatment plant in Opole and improvement of water and wastewater management”, an expansion of the plant capacity from 175,000 PE at present to 245,000 PE is planned. In addition, the introduction of a modern monitoring and control system for the sludge treatment plant is envisaged.

The modernisation of the Opole Wastewater Treatment Plant is expected to cost around 32m euros and is scheduled for completion in 2023.
